Cigna Coverage Availability & Fees
Like many dental insurance providers, Cigna offers a couple of different plans, and each has different terms that dictate coverage availability and fees. In order to best understand your benefits, you’ll need to be familiar with some of the “lingo.” Here are some of the most common dental insurance terms:

- The dollar amount you’ll have to pay out of your own pocket before certain services will start receiving coverage.
- Annual maximum. The most coverage Cigna will provide to you in a given year, often listed as a specific dollar amount.
Now, Cigna has plans that range from providing bare-bones preventive care benefits at a low monthly cost to high-premium options that entitle you to more favorable coverage terms.
The Cigna Dental Preventive plan, for example, provides two free checkups and cleanings per year for $19 per month, but doesn’t offer coverage for other services like crowns, fillings, and orthodontics. The Cigna Dental 3000/100 plan, meanwhile, has a $44 premium that comes with two free checkups and cleanings per year, a $100 deductible, and $3,000 annual maximum to go towards minor and major procedures.
